Wild goalie Alex Stalock was claimed by the Edmonton Oilers today. We found out yesterday that Stalock had been placed on waivers, and the team had hoped to sneak him through so he could be added to the taxi squad or Iowa’s roster. Edmonton had other plans.
Stalock played well last year in tandem with Devan Dubnyk. He helped the team get into the playoffs, but ultimately Kaapo Kahkonen has played well enough to warrant staying on the NHL roster. It’s unfortunate that Stalock leaves the organization, but it was likely to happen at the end of the year anyway.
Interesting that it does free up some cap space as well…which could come in very handy later on in the year. Something to keep an eye on, which we of course will.
