1.) Mark Stone, VGK
We saw why Stone is one of the best players on the Golden Knight’s roster, if not the entire division. He showed next level vision, and probably should have come away with a couple of goals if not for tip-ins by his teammates. 5 assists, including setting up the game winning goal, is an incredibly impressive performance, and he earned every one of them. It was very interesting to see him and Kaprizov go toe to toe all night, as Kaprizov certainly held his own.
2.) Marcus Foligno, MIN
Two goals and an assist for Marcus Foligno in the second period alone! The Wild needed a physical presence against the (then) top team in the West, and Foligno brought it all. A “knee in” and a top shelf snipe, both beautiful in their own ways.
3.) Max Pacioretty, VGK
Thanks to Mark Stone’s super generous stick, Pacioretty was able to tally a couple of goals. He scored on the Power Play, and sent the home fans happy with the Overtime winner. Pacioretty made life difficult for the Wild defense, and showed that this Golden Knights team is not one to be taken lightly. Hopefully he scored all of his goals tonight and won’t have any more on Wednesday.
